Known as “forbidden” or “emperor’s” rice, this beautifully cooked purple grain has a rich cultural history. Being rare and difficult to grow, it was forbidden to everyone but the emperor and royalty in ancient China. Now you can serve a meal fit for a king with our Chef’s Line® Organic Purple Rice and Quinoa Blend, featuring a colorful assortment of purple rice, brown rice, white rice, red quinoa and white quinoa. The purple rice starts black and cooks to a deep purple, is slightly chewy and has a pleasant nutty flavor.
