Community and Business Impact
US Foods® continues to evolve our sourcing strategies by enhancing our network of vendor partnerships with small businesses and companies that are owned and operated by a diverse spectrum of people to support our customer and supply chain demands. We utilize a variety of resources to find potential sourcing solutions for our supplier network including, but not limited to, organizations such as:
- Disability:IN
- Efficient Collaborative Retail Marketing Company
- National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce
- National Minority Supplier Development Council
- National Veteran-Owned Business Association
- U.S. Small Business Administration
- Women’s Business Enterprise National Council
By utilizing a range of resources in our sourcing strategy, we can have an innovative and competitively priced product assortment that meets the evolving needs of our customers and their menus. This approach encourages suppliers to offer their best prices and terms, and has also been a way to fulfill supply chain shortages.
Upon request to your Territory Manager or Account Executive,
US Foods can provide a report of vendors in a customer’s recent purchase history by business classification.
1. Figures include trade and indirect spend with Tier I suppliers.
2. Figure represents spend with certified diverse suppliers only; however, US Foods continues to track self-certification in support of customers’ business classification reporting needs.

Positive Economic Impact
Our sourcing strategy not only bolsters the resilience and strength of our supply chain and supports our customer product needs, but also supports communities. Additional positive economic impacts in our supply chain and in communities are associated with our small and diverse suppliers and the people they employ, along with the purchases they make from other suppliers, as well as the spending that takes place in their communities. To more fully quantify these positive outcomes, we assess the program’s direct, indirect and induced economic impacts from our small business and diverse spend.
