Diversity & Inclusion

INCREASING THE DIVERSITY OF OUR WORKFORCE AND LEADERS

US Foods® is committed to cultivating a diverse workforce built upon wide-ranging perspectives, unique experiences and a multitude of backgrounds and identities. Through multifaceted recruiting and training efforts, we strive to attract and develop a pipeline of diverse talent to maximize the strength of our teams and provide the highest quality service for our customers every day.

RECRUITING AND SUPPORTING DIVERSE TALENT

We know that diverse and inclusive leadership is fundamental in bringing a breadth of experiences and perspectives to the work we do every day. Over the past several years, with steady progress, we have been working to increase the diversity of our director-level-and-above leadership roles through accelerated development programs for diverse associates and expanded external recruiting partnerships to reach more diverse candidates. In 2021, we set a goal to fill 40% of our new or open leadership roles with diverse candidates. Subsequently, we enhanced our hiring process to require diverse candidate slates for leadership roles and introduced unconscious bias training for leaders.

TRAINING, MENTORING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Through training, mentoring, e-learning, on-the-job development and professional development opportunities, we help all of our associates learn and grow while building a pipeline of diverse talent.

US Foods® Signature Leadership Development Programs

Our signature leadership development programs are designed to develop inclusive leadership skills to support equitable team building, collaboration and decision making. These programs prepare diverse leaders for greater responsibility and they include:

  • Gateway to Leadership – for new people managers
  • Aspire to Grow and Aspire to Lead – High-potential leaders at different stages in their career

LEARNING PARTNERS MENTORING PROGRAM

Our Learning Partners mentoring program matches diverse, high-potential US Foods leaders (mentees) with senior leaders (mentors), facilitating one-on-one, two-way learning and helping prepare diverse leaders for career advancement.

Women in Leadership Program

Aligned with our commitment to developing and increasing diverse representation in our leadership, we launched a Women In Leadership program in 2021. The program aims to expand senior women’s networks and build their skills in relevant areas. Networking opportunities include panel discussions with key female leaders and regular connections with a networking group of women leaders.
