Diversity & Inclusion

CREATING AN INCLUSIVE WORK ENVIRONMENT

US Foods® is committed to creating a more inclusive work environment where everyone feels safe and valued, and ensuring that their voices matter.

Our success relies upon a diverse and dynamic workplace built on our Cultural Beliefs, which define how we live and create an environment where all associates can grow and thrive.

We have a Bias training program, Creating Conscious Inclusion, that provides a common framework for recognizing and addressing bias in the workplace, with a focus on reaching associates across all levels and functions of the business. The PAUSE® Model, which is central to the training, helps reduce everyday bias by offering a step-by-step process to help an individual slow their internal reaction down, connect with their thoughts, challenge assumptions and make a more deliberate and inclusive choice. This model is central to our culture and how we think about our associates, talent management, recruiting and interviewing.

Creating a Respectful Workplace

To reinforce our culture of integrity, US Foods assigns annual Code of Conduct training to all full-time and part-time associates. Associates are trained on behavioral expectations and how to speak up if something doesn’t seem right. This training is one of many activities that support the goal of fostering greater inclusion at US Foods.

Employee Business Resource Groups

employee resource groupsOur 10 associate-led Employee Business Resource Groups (EBRGs) offer associates opportunities to engage in personal and professional development programs, strengthen cross-functional networking, business integration support and more. Leveraging virtual tools and resources, our EBRGs conduct various company-wide events, including Heritage Month celebrations, educational forums, and sessions featuring expert guest speakers. Additionally, our EBRG leaders and members have forged partnerships across the organization that have enabled them to provide valuable feedback and insights into business initiatives, advancing the success of our organization.

Since the commencement of the program, membership has grown to include more than 3,000 associates and spans across our corporate offices and all US Foods field locations throughout the country, enabling engagement from all associates. As of the third quarter in 2023, our EBRG program has held more than 60 engaging events with more than 18,500 associates. Events have included a series on business acumen, an innovation collaboration session, caregiver training, mental health learning and education on a wide variety of professional development topics. Additionally, EBRG members are invited to participate in mentorship programs facilitated by leaders across the organization. Through these EBRG-led mentorship programs, hundreds of associates have gained access to career-changing mentorships and cross-functional networking.

We continue to expand the reach of the program and grow corporate and field associate engagement in our 10 EBRGs through virtual event participation and by offering events and initiatives that are responsive to EBRG member requests and current relevant topics.
