Local to National Expansion

In 2015, a local restaurant focused on Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors, in business for 25 years, decided they wanted to go national.  They engaged with US Foods® to move from self-distribution to support this effort. Through the use of the US Foods Central Order Guide Management (COGM) system, the customer was able to standardize and control the products used in new markets as they expanded, reducing costs and controlling a consistent customer experience.

The results:  This customer grew from one market buying $3 million annually to nineteen markets buying almost 19 times more product, in less than three years.  They continue to grow profitably every month.


Deploying Business Solutions for Growth

In 2012, a fast-casual sandwich restaurant-concept moved to US Foods to gain control of their purchasing. They also wanted to leverage technology to drive and grow their business. They could do this through central control of their order guide across all markets. The business could benefit from a menu-costing solution integrated with their purchasing to tightly control profit and manage rapid growth while opening multiple concepts. In short, they needed an easy button. Through the use of US Foods online portal with central order guide management and GL coding, as well as business analytics and our Menu Profit Pro™ tool – they were able to take their business to the next level.

The results: This customer grew from one concept with 11 stores to six concepts with 32 stores across seven markets. They moved from a dual-source environment to single source with essential support from US Foods.
